Betty Crocker – Old-Time Cinnamon Jumbles

Made with buttermilk … soft and cake-like.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soft shortening (113g half Lard, half butter)
  • 1 cup sugar (approx. 200g)
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup buttermilk (180ml)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted GOLD MEDAL Flour (approx. 220g plain flour)
  • ¼ tsp. soda
  • ½ tsp. salt

Method

  1. Mix together the shortening, sugar, and egg.
  2. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla.
  3. Sift together and stir in, the flour, soda and, salt.
  4. Chill dough.
  5. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2″ apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle with mixture of sugar and cinnamon (¼ cup sugar (approx. 50g) and 1 tsp. cinnamon).
  7. Bake until set but not brown.

Baking

  • Bake in a mod. hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • 190°C–200°C, 375°F–400°F , Gas Mark 5–6, Fan 170°C–180°C

Quantity

  • About 4 doz. 2″ cookies.
