Betty Crocker – Oatmeal Drop Cookies

Chewy … with a hint of molasses.

We created this recipe in our test kitchen for the little daughter of a famous actress, and for all little children.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup soft shortening (113g Lard)
  • 1¼ cup sugar (approx. 250g)
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tbsp molasses
  • 1¾ cups sifted GOLD MEDAL Flour (approx. 193g plain flour)
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups rolled oats (approx. 170g)
  • ½ cup cut-up nuts (approx. 65g)
  • 1 cup cut-up raisins (approx. 160g)

Method

  1. Mix together the shortening, sugar, eggs and molasses.
  2. Sift together and stir in, the flour, soda, salt and cinnamon.
  3. Stir in the oats, nuts and raisins.
  4. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2″ apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
  5. Bake until lightly browned.

Baking

  • Bake in a mod. hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • 190°C–200°C, 375°F–400°F , Gas Mark 5–6, Fan 170°C–180°C

Quantity

  • About 5 doz. 2½″ cookies.
