Chewy … with a hint of molasses.
We created this recipe in our test kitchen for the little daughter of a famous actress, and for all little children.
Ingredients
- ½ cup soft shortening (113g Lard)
- 1¼ cup sugar (approx. 250g)
- 2 eggs
- 6 tbsp molasses
- 1¾ cups sifted GOLD MEDAL Flour (approx. 193g plain flour)
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 cups rolled oats (approx. 170g)
- ½ cup cut-up nuts (approx. 65g)
- 1 cup cut-up raisins (approx. 160g)
Method
- Mix together the shortening, sugar, eggs and molasses.
- Sift together and stir in, the flour, soda, salt and cinnamon.
- Stir in the oats, nuts and raisins.
- Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2″ apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake until lightly browned.
Baking
- Bake in a mod. hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- 190°C–200°C, 375°F–400°F , Gas Mark 5–6, Fan 170°C–180°C

- About 5 doz. 2½″ cookies.
